As a Senior Gameplay Systems Engineer, you’ll build and own gameplay systems, integrating multiple perspectives to satisfy discipline and project needs while carrying out self-driven improvements to those systems. • Maintain a vision for the systems you work on by monitoring client’s needs and shepherding improvements that are mindful of discipline dependencies and project timelines
  • Educate the team on relevant engine features, gameplay systems, and new technologies
  • Identify future work, provide plan estimates, and surface project risks
  • Leverage existing architecture and technologies to quickly prototype features and build reliable systems
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers, improving our code base by reviewing each others code and planning features and systems together
  • Ensure high and smooth framerate in VR by analyzing performance data and fixing performance issues

Qualifications:

  • Professional game industry experience prototyping and developing shippable game systems on several projects
  • Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar C++ game code to independently develop integrated systems
  • Comfortable managing your own schedule, surfacing concerns, and keeping stakeholders informed on project progress
  • Ability to develop solutions to problems that satisfy multiple competing perspectives, including your own
  • Engineering experience working on complex game features and systems with many dependencies
  • Experience incorporating performance considerations when developing systems
  • Strong knowledge of the 3D math used in game development

Pluses:

  • Experience developing in Unreal Engine
  • Experience with MR / VR games or apps
  • Experience making character creators, game AI, procedurally generated or randomized environments

We believe all the listed qualifications are important to the role. We’re also open to hearing from anyone who believes their unique experiences also qualify them for consideration. If that’s you, please apply!

Compensation:

Polyarc’s salary range for this role is $155,000 to $174,000, with a total compensation target (cash + equity) of $193,000 t0 $207,000. Any final compensation is dependent on position leveling, taking into consideration the candidate’s qualifications and experiences.
