Polyarc is seeking a Senior Game Designer with an affinity for cozy games who will champion character and narrative systems that build lasting player connections through believable behaviors, interactions, and relationship management.
As a Senior Game Designer at Polyarc, you will use your creative skills and craft-knowledge to enhance gameplay and build immersive, delightful experiences for our players. You excel at communication and will effectively collaborate with other disciplines to bring a unifying project vision to lif. You will advocate for design, mentor others on your team, and leverage your ability to best support Polyarc’s studio goals.

Responsibilities:
- Champion the player experience for character and narrative systems.
- Work with engineering to establish and maintain gameplay systems/workflows.
- Plan and implement character and narrative assets that resonate with a wide audience.
- Integrate and maintain game content through playtesting, acquiring feedback, and developing solutions with other developers.
- Collaborate with and mentor others on your team as an advocate for design.
- Deliver impactful results while adhering to project pillars, goals, and milestones.
- Manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously, supporting other disciplines in addition to self-driven work.
Qualifications:
- Professional experience working directly with other disciplines through all stages of game development and shepherding design goals when implementing gameplay systems.
- Proven track record of delivering cohesive game systems with associated content.
- Accustomed to translating sprint and milestone goals to playable design and validating resulting player experience via feedback and review.
- Experienced at working within constraints while using them to search out creative opportunities.
- Skilled in crafting concise documentation that inspires, shares key information, and/or defines functionality for technical implementation and testing.
- Experienced in UE 4/5.
Pluses:
- Experience working in VR/AR/MR.
- Experience developing for AAA and/or cozy genre (specifically Life Sim.)
- Experience developing AI, Character, Narrative gameplay systems and/or customization systems
- Comfortable with prototying UE4/5 systems in C++

Compensation:
Polyarc’s salary range for this role is $120,000 to $151,000, with a total compensation target (cash + equity) of $150,000 to $167,500. Any final compensation is dependent on position leveling, taking into consideration the candidate’s qualifications and experiences.
Additionally, there are several other great benefits such as health care benefits (medical, dental, and vision), 401K, flexible PTO (25 accrued PTO days), two seasonal holidays (5 days each) + 10 additional paid holidays, long term disability insurance, life & AD&D, and other voluntary benefits such as pet insurance.
