Senior Game Designer (Customization)

Polyarc is seeking a Senior Game Designer with an affinity for cozy games who will champion customization systems that inspire player creativity through beautification and socialization of their personalized characters and dioramas.

As a Senior Designer at Polyarc, you will use your creative skills and craft-knowledge to enhance gameplay and build immersive, delightful experiences for our players. You excel at communication and will effectively collaborate with other disciplines to bring a unifying project vision to life. You will advocate for design, mentor others on your team, and leverage your ability to best support Polyarc’s studio goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion the player experience for customization systems.
  • Work with engineering to establish and maintain gameplay systems/workflows.
  • Plan and implement customization assets with a robust assortment of options.
  • Integrate and maintain game content through playtesting, acquiring feedback, and developing solutions with other developers.
  • Collaborate with and mentor others on your team as an advocate for design.
  • Deliver impactful results while adhering to project pillars, goals, and milestones.
  • Manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously, supporting other disciplines in addition to self-driven work.

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience working directly with other disciplines through all stages of game development and shepherding design goals when implementing gameplay systems.
  • Proven track record of creating cohesive and compelling customization systems with associated content.
  • Accustomed to translating sprint and milestone goals to playable design and validating resulting player experience via feedback and review.
  • Experienced at working within constraints while using them to search out creative opportunities.
  • Skilled in crafting concise documentation that inspires, shares key information, and/or defines functionality for technical implementation and testing.
  • Knowledgeable in UE 4/5 with direct experience in comparable environment.

Pluses:

  • Experience working in VR/AR/MR
  • Experience developing for AAA and/or cozy genre (specifically Life Sim)
  • Comfortable with visual scripting languages

Compensation:

Polyarc’s salary range for this role is $120,000 to $151,000, with a total compensation target (cash + equity) of $150,000 to $167,500. Any final compensation is dependent on position leveling, taking into consideration the candidate’s qualifications and experiences.  Polyarc also offers a revenue sharing plan.
